Understanding funding and financial progress

From request to commitment

Once an opportunity has reached the funding stage, a Funding Officer raises a funding request describing how much is needed and from what source. Formal approval of a funding request, like other significant decisions on the platform, goes through the standard approval process before it becomes a commitment.

Disbursement

A committed funding amount is paid out through one or more disbursements rather than necessarily all at once, often tied to progress against the project's milestones. Each disbursement is tracked individually against the funding commitment it belongs to.

Utilization reporting

As funds are used, utilization is reported against the disbursement so the government maintains a clear, ongoing picture of how the money committed to a project is actually being spent, alongside the delivery progress reported by the Delivery Partner.

See "Delivery Partner responsibilities and milestones" for how milestone progress connects to this financial picture, and "Approvals and decision workflow" for how funding approvals are decided.
